  • Need clarification on VrayfastSSS2 in relation to texture maps

I'm a little confused regarding the maps section and where to put the reflection and rglossiness texture maps that I have. It's set up differently for the vrayfastss2 that there's a specular amount and specular glossiness slot but not for reflection so where does the reflect and glossy maps go? Also, what is the relationship of the specular layer tab to the maps themselves? Am I to assume it functions the same way as the normal vraymtl editor? The manual doesn't go into detail about this unfortunately, unless I haven't looked at it correctly.

    Thanks.

The difference between specular and reflections is that reflections are beeing raytraced and there is a checkbox in the specular tab to "trace reflections".
So cou can work with the specular values and jsut like with the reflection values in any vray material and use your maps accordingly.

Excuse my ignorance if I'm wrong here, but what you are saying basically is that the specular layer tab directly controls the reflections when "trace reflections' is enabled, correct?

If that is the case, then the specular amount/glossiness slots only controls the glossiness? Sorry if I'm still a little confused, I'm more of a visual learner unfortunately.

You can put reflection and glossy maps in to specular color and specular glossiness.
"..what is the relationship of the specular layer tab to the maps.."
The color and glossiness will be override if you have maps connected.

To be more correct "trace reflections" enables the calculations of glossy reflections, when it is off, you will see only highlights.

Yes, it work like normal V-Ray material.
