  • Script for scene conversion

    Hi.

I have been using a script (conversor_v1.19.mse) to convert existing/old 3DS Max scenes to VRay scenes. This simply converts all materials to VRay materials and changes the render engine to VRay. This has worked for a few years but I am now finding that it crashes Max.

I am using VRay Adv 2.50.01. Could anyone please advise if there is an updated version of the script that I have been using or if there is a better alternative available.

    Many thanks,

    Terry

As Syclone1 pointed out, the built in one is pretty good. Only thing I don't like about it is how it sets reflective properties, though I'm sure there is a good reason. Using it in conjunction with VMC (Vray Material Control) solves this issue easily and for free.

Watch out with if you have animated bitmaps with start-frame offsets or speeds, the converter doesn't transfer these over either.

          Hi.

          Thanks for the replies.

Forgive my ignorance but where do I find the built in converter?

I looked through the menus and Utilities but I haven't spotted it?

          Thanks,

          Terry
