  • adjust ratio of vray sun to sky

if i want to manually brighten the sky without affecting the sun, whats the best way to do it?

    use it in a domelight?

ive tried using an output map before but it seems to mess with the dynamic range.

Switch the Sky Model to CIE Clear or CIE Overcast and you should be able to control the sky brightness separately via indirect horiz illum parameter:

As above. You can also separate the VraySky map in your env slot from the sun, so you can control its multiplier independently of the sun. This is what I normally do. I tend to have separate ones for the env bg, the reflection override and the sun itself.

i was under the impression that if you unlink the sky from the sun then it will not change in respect to sun position..?

You can use a dummy light that's disabled to make it work this way.

Well.. actually I have a vague memory of being able to do this without the dummy trick. I think if you grab the vrayskymap in your env slot and specify the light manually in there, you should be able to control its multi without affecting the sun multi.

It does? The output map is what I use too. Never had a problem... If the sky is float the output map shouldn't clamp it, no?
