physcam and vrayexposure

which takes precedence? if ive got a scene set up using vray exposure control, and then choose to render a physcam with different settings, will it then ignore the exposure control, or the physcam?

In 2016 or eariler? In earlier versions, the camera takes precedence over the exposure control.

In 3ds Max 2016, you should use the Physical Camera Exposure Control - it has an option whether to override the camera or not.
