  • DR "on the fly" server addition

im doing a backburner job, and to my delight i saw the "on the fly" DR settings are available even when rendering an image through backburner.. however when i added another machine, it was rendering bad buckets.. (im not sure what, but quite a lot of black.. could be missing maps.. i stopped it again immediately as i dont wanna have to rerender the whole image.)

ill see if it does the same thing from within max, or when added before rendering, but ive got 16 hrs of render to go, so not very soon.

does vray do the "transfer missing assets" trick when adding servers on the fly? also when rendering through backburner? that could be an issue. to be honest im not sure if its needed on this scene, i though i had everything mapped correctly.

Yes, but it needs to be enabled when the rendering started.

    also when rendering through backburner?
I think it should work fine, but I actually need to test it.

ive since discovered that i likely have network config issues on that machine. i really somebody who knows how to set up networking properly to have a look, because ive managed to set up something non-standard that was working before, but isnt now, and i dont know enough to troubleshoot. im super comfortable with building/configuring computer hardware, but the moment i arrive at networking, my brain shuts down.

Yes, Transfer missing assets doesn't work trough Backburner. This is something that we have to fix.

Also setting that transfer missing assets checkbox also on the on-the-fly menu would be really good.
            Software:
            Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
            3ds Max 2016 SP4
            V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

            Hardware:
            Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)
            64GB RAM

Why you would like to change it at the rendertime ? You can leave it ON by default to avoid any DR issues.

Well leaving it on would be one option, yes.

Good news. Also leaving it on by "default" is a problem when having bigger scenes which save long. I disable it and I might forget to reenable it and notice too late. Then turning it on on the fly would be cool.

In the 3ds Max render progress dialog that comes up during rendering.
