  • 3.2 Leak Prevention

First of all, thanks for all the work you guys have put in this update! My question regards the new leak prevention setting. In this topic - http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...download/page5
Lele mentions that now the default LC settings should work for most scenarios, and that no LC leaks should happen from now on. If this is true, does it work the same for animation (light changes + cam + characters). I haven't had the chance to test this out yet, but this coming week i'll need to render some animations like this, and if it works like Lele says, its a HUGE timesaver...! Is there still a need for the camera path option to be turned on?

    Hi,

Yes, the Light cache has some improvements in the latest service pack and should be more efficient when rendering animations. The new option to prevent light leaks and improved filtering will reduce any raycast errors or GI flickering.

Is there still a need for the camera path option to be turned on?
Generally the animation workflow should be the same as the one used for the previews versions and service packs.

Probably Vlado will post later some additional information and details.

The page for the light cache in the docs has some tips for animation (where it says "Avoiding flickering in animations"):
