  • How would I go about in VRay to get this?

    Hi,

    https://www.behance.net/gallery/2573...nitted-Weapons
Especially image 5, the close up green wool.
For the little fuzzy hair I would use VRayFur I guess, but how about the main structure underneath?
    Looks crazy good to me.
    Software:
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
    3ds Max 2016 SP4
    V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

    Hardware:
    Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)

    for sure, that is awesome.
May be you could ask the artist himself (if its done under Vray of course)?

A lot of people have gotten good results from decent uv mapping and displacement for this stuff. You might even go to the extent of modelling a section of the cloth weave and making your own tileable map from this - here's a tutorial with a similar approach for chain mail - http://www.characterink.com/2010/10/...ap-chain-mail/

          Hi Rob,

It was modelled in Maya and rendered in Vray. Knitting underneath was also geometry with a little displacement to give the twisted thread look then lots of crazy fur ontop to give it that fuzzy look. Took a fair while to render @ 10k and computer was sitting on 60gb of ram.

          Cheers

          Matt

Very nice bits of info. So it really is modelled. That's just sick. And it looks awesome.
