  • save extra elements channels.... how?

Hi! When using the regular MAX render one can save all the elements of the render in 1 EXR as extra channels. I do not seems to fnd a way to do that with VRAY, the render gives a message when I activate the channel that it will look like it is off but that is actually being handled by the VRAY frame buffer, but I still get an EXR that is only RGBA, what am I mnissing? I also turned ON the save extra channels on the render setup, but it saves all to sepparate files.

    Thanks!

You need to save to .vrimg or choose a multichannel exr, also from vray frame buffer.

Save to .exr from the frame buffer as dmitry says, but don't turn on "Separate render channels" if you want all your elements to be put into a single exr.

One thing of note is if you want to specify things like specific compression and the exr auto crop / data window, you'll have to also add in a render element called "vray option RE". It doesn't output an image, it's just a way to give vray extra instructions about how it saves exr files from the frame buffer. If you're using the max output, you can set your exr options in the file > save as setup button instead.

        Hello,
sorry but none of the solution in case of batch render works if you want to batch render several frame, using several scene state (using manage state scene).
You can't save from VFB, or from max buffer when using a batch render.
EXR doesn't save multichannel even when VFB is disable
Saving to vray raw image doesn't work with multiple scene state and Batch render.
I'm not considering Backburner as it is a nightmare

Sound like the only alternative is the paid option

The only way to get it done if you are not using batch render is to save the EXR from the VFB.

fraggle, so the case of scene state, what is the exact problem? I use that combination all the time and it works fine. Can you say what is the issue you are having in more detail?

Thanks, I did prepare a scene for test purpose, and it works. SO I guess my scene is faulty, I will merge it in a new one but will have to create the scene state from scratch.
Sometime I wonder why I keep using max....

It does work using batch render, you just have to save your list of elements as a render preset and then in the batch render window load that preset for each sequence.
I had to figure that out this weekend, found it through trial and error in the end...

if you are on max 2017, you can save the state sets as preset (I haven't tried it so I can't say how well it works).

There is also another render pass manager called prism, which suppose to work between scenes.
