  • Free bricks...

    Hey chaps,

I am sure many of you are aware of the Brix plugin that surfaced a year or two ago, and a couple of other similar things also pop up from time to time, but there is a way to achieve the same result for free.

Bercon Tiles and Multitexture now work with eachother so that you can use Multitexture to load multiple/random brick bitmaps into the Bercon Tiles plugin that will position them.

Here's a set of bricks I shot a week or so ago, with bump & alpha masks:

I imagine the process to be fairly self explanatory, however if there is enough interest I can write a tutorial.

      thanks!

Bercon tiles drives me crazy with not being able to see in the viewport much of the tweaking I do. Lots of render tests. But it's a super robust setup.

I love bercon textures but it drives me crazy it crashes max nearly every-time I touch or dup it.

I wish someone with coding skills would be able to take it over and make it stable

Haven't had it crash for me (yet). I totally agree with the not being able to see it in the viewport though, really frustrating.

those two are working nicely together for quite a while. never had any crashes with bercon. if you need something in viewport use additional separately mapped bitmap in mat matching bercon brick module.

Never had it crash, except for using variance in a composite but vlado fixed this and I told the guy from vizpark and he uses the updated version now too, so if you have walls & tiles, you shouldn't have any problems I think.

Will try and shoot some more when I get a moment. The time consuming bit is getting the brick masks right.

I second that. Results look great, would love a walkthrough.

Fair enough. Don't suppose any of you chaps could recommend a decent screen video capture software (preferably free)?

Camtasia studio, but it's not free. BTW what's the power you have over software like walls & tiles, brix, multitiles,... etc? Except for that it's free.

Generally the main render farms support Bercon Maps and Multitexture. Certainly Render Nation do and to my knowledge Rebus do too. And it's free.

Bricks always annoy the hell out of me!
Lately I have been using railclone to procedurally build my walls and then multitextures for texturing them.
Another plugin for bricks is Rayfire.
They have a bricks modifier now which is simply amazing. BIG time saver.

Yeah but I don't think the rayfire modifier is meant to be used for project with lots of brick walls. Besides that Walls&Tiles is also supported by Rebusfarm.
