  • Scaled objects need modifications to VrayDisplacement Amount

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this based off some tests, but I just want to double check.

If I have a sphere with a vraydispmod, and I scale the sphere to be 10 times the size, I also need to set the amount in the disp mod to 10 in order to get identical looking results, correct?

What's the equivalent of Maya's "freeze transformations" on an object in Max? Reset Xform, I believe from memory? would that negate the need to adjust the displacement mod accordingly?

(in situations where you can use it, of course)

edited post because I hadn't noticed it was Neil posing the question :P

I don't think it's going to work; the displacement is currently always in world units.

Right, so if its in world units, then if I scale an object larger, I should scale the amount in the disp mod by the same value to get identical visual results, correct?

          This is correct, yes.
