Bloom/Glow

Does anybody have a good recipe for using VRay's Bloom/Glow on exteriors? I have been using it for about a month, but I can't get my arms around it. Interiors don't seem to be a problem, however exteriors are not coming together for me. I render unclamped, so the mask thing is a little confusing. I am assuming once you get something that works, you don't have to change much, so I am looking for someone who has cracked the code.
