  • So you can export a vrscene from Max too Maya - but not the other way around?

I'm looking for a way to import a vrscene into Max and can't seem to do so.

Is there another way to bring Maya scenes into Max?

I know materials aren't including in FBX - could these ever be changed in future?

You can load materials from .vrscene files using the VRayVrmatMtl material - would this work?

    Best regards,

And manually apply them to every object? Sounds tedious.

You know what would be awesome. A script that does that.

Would you have to do that though? If your new material has the same name as one in the scene it should go through and replace all instances when you try to add it to an existing object. You only have to apply it to a sphere and your whole scene is updated.

I'm talkign about transferring an entire scene - all the materials at once - from Maya to Max and back again.

One material at a time is fine, lots, its tedious.

A .vrscene can contain multiple materials, so you can just export them all in one go.

In any case some scripting will probably be required. It's the only option short of re-creating the materials anyways, which is even more tedious.

Yeah.. about that... I was wondering if you guys, with your amazing skills, might consider either writing a script, or even nagging Autodesk to include vray materials in the FBX format?

It's somewhere on the "to do" list to look into the FBX SDK, but we haven't had a chance to do this yet.
