  • Hairs in Vray Mirror Material

I created a mirror material in vray. And that mirror perfectly relected every thing in the room except my characters hairs (created through Digimation Shag Hair plugin). I tried rendering the scene with perspective and camera view both but all in vain.

Guys please help me in finding out the solution of this problem. My scene contains various vray materials so that rendering with scanline will not going to help.

Note- When i rendering the scene through scanline than the Hairs render perfectly.

I think you need to change to geometry before rendering

percydaman, can you tell me how to convert into the geometry.

When i select the hairs i get few option for convert like editable mesh, editable splines, cloth mesh, strand roots mesh and vertex splines.

In all these, vertex splines are viewable in mirror but lost the settings like curliness.

According to your answer i think this(vertex splines) is not you calling geometry. Then, tell me the other method of converting into geometry.

its in the shag:hair dialogue in the environment menu I think. Its been awhile since I played with it, but theres an option to convert to geometry and render or something. Careful though as its all geometry now and is alot tougher on your memory.

          percydaman, thanks for your reply.

I want to know that's the only way because it takes lots of memory as you said. And my scene contains high quantity of hairs and that's why sometime vray crash due to limited polygons renderability and sometimes shaghair renderer.

yeah until vray can render it without having to convert it to geometry, its going to be a problem. the standalone version might have an easier time. Of course having only a gig of memory or less wont help.

When the standalone version of vray will release ?

From such a long time no update is coming for vray.

Increased polygons renderability also required from long time.
