  • vRay Advanced and Free on the same machine?

Can you have vRay Advanced and Free installed on the same machine? I want to buy vRay Advanced, but know it only works on one machine actively. For network rendering, I can take advantage of it. But for individual work, I would like to keep vRay free running on each machine since we can use more than one copy at a time.

    Any thoughts?

why would you want to? vray free doesnt have all the features that advanced does. so why would you want to work with a crippled version. wouldnt it just be quicker to work normally. then when your ready to texture and render you do it on the system with vray advanced?

we have more than one person trying to work on a scene at a time, and sometimes it is nice to do quick test renderings. plus, it would be nice to not have to kick the guy off who is using the machine with vRay Advanced everytime we need to render.

Basically, for a lot of our renderings we could still use the free version (as we have been for months). I am simply trying to up the ante a bit on some of our bigger renderings.

      best of both worlds, basically.

        Hi shaneburger !

I tried Vray free once, just to see...
        You cannot "really" work with,
If I were you I would buy a basic version of Vray to use it for tests.
        It's worth.

After a certain time of use Vray free, I think you will regret it, you
        risk to lose your time...

But, you are free, of course like Vray...
        Do what you want

        Bye !
