Question...Why does it seem at times, in certain scenes, the light cache preview is very different from actual BF pass?!
It's really sucking a lot of time up in test renderings and I'd like to know why this happens.

In the example, you can see the rendered buckets are very much darker than the light cache preview. This makes me think it's looking one, way, but after a few minutes, I get a different result and have to cancel.

    Thanks

Also, I noticed that using RT won't help me in this case, because only the occluded color of the vraydirt map is shown in RT buffer (as if it were just a simple RGB value, not dirty.)

Does this still happen with V-Ray 3.x?

        Best regards,

          Yep,

it's happening to me with 3.30 beta in a simple scene with just gray materials and dome light.

            is it from color mapping?

Then I've no idea, would be best to post the scene.

              Best regards,
              Vlado

Could happen with Store with irradiance map enabled:

To me it happens even without "store with irradiance map" option active on any of the scene lights. I've already sent scene in which this issue happens to vlado[at]chaosgroup.com but I am not sure my mail arrived. I can send it anywhere else if you want.

I got you email; sorry for not replying - we are preparing a new beta build and it's a bit busy.

No need to apologize. I am just guilty of promising to send some repro scenes in past, and then forgetting to send them, so I wanted to get it right this time.
