  • skyportal subdivision

    Hello,
what's the resulting number of subdivision in the following case.
    HDRI Dome : Subdiv 32
    Skyportal: Sudbdiv 32
    Is the total 32²?
Or is the skyportal ignoring the HDRI subdivision?

    Thanks

Threat them as a separate lights, nothing is being ignored.
Each light shoot its own sample rays.

thanks, I was thinking that the skyportal was use to grab the ray from what is behind (outside in this case) and port it in the front (inside in this case).

Portal Lights works just as regular lights, the only difference is that their intensity and color are determined by the environment map.

Does having portal lights always mean better sampling?
I remembe rgetting a scene from Evermotion where disabling the portal lights actually reduced noise and rendertime a little.

It "converts" your environment indirect lighting into direct. So yes , it will give you better GI also , but in expense it has its own subdivisions also. So if it is not set up correctly - render time can be slower and image noisier.
