  • Is there a way to get directly visible sun disc?

    Hello,

is there any way to get VraySun (without VraySky) to have directly visible sun disc of correct HDR intensity, for applying glares/flares in post?

Nope, not at the moment unfortunately.

    Best regards,

      Okay

I had a case the other day where I had to set up a space scene on earth orbit. If I modeled earth to real scale, I would definitely run into problems with scene scale. So the idea was to model just an average scale sphere, light it by VraySun, place camera on a good orbit distance from earth and generate HDRI out of that, which I would then use to light a real scene. I encountered a show stopper once I saw sun is not directly visible, therefore it would not bake into my HDRI and illuminate the scene.

So this would be useful in future

Yes, I know; we can probably make the sun to generate its own disc geometry rather than rely on the sky texture.
