I did it on my super old laptop - and was not impressed. Spent a lot of time trying to disable everything because I don't have/want a Microsoft account. If it wasn't for 3dsmax being windows only, I'd probably have switched completely to apple/osx

Did they somehow break the start menu in Windows 10? I used to be able to hit the windows key, type in a program name, and it would be searched/isolated in the windows start bar. In Windows 10, it wouldn't find the app, and it would instead have a link to something that would search online for what I had typed...

I'll be sticking with Windows 7 until I'm forced to switch.

Two things that affects VRay with Windows 10 is that..

You may have to download new drives for the WIBU key.

The start menu gets rid of the sub-folder so when searching anything vray related you get Launch VRay DR Spawner, Launch VRay DR Spawner, Launch VRay DR Spawner, all listed together and you can't tell if it's for max 2014,2015 or 2016 which isn't really that useful.

I am running WIN10, without any issues. Really, no point to upgrade, if you are on WIN7. My Windows key works just fine and brings up programs, along with other things.

I'm running Windows 10 on my laptop; so far I had two issues - after some update it refused to boot (the laptop would go into a continuous reboot cycle); the other one was that my sound was gone and I couldn't bring it back until I uninstalled the sound drivers and then let Windows re-install them.

A plus side is that the upgrade kept all my programs, settings and everything - a first for a Windows install for me

Other than that, it's running fine, but I can't see any particular differences compared to Windows 8.1 which I had before.

          Best regards,
          Vlado

I saw about 2 months ago on area that NO Autodesk stuff is yet officially supported on Windows 10 yet. That may have changed since then.

I upgraded my 5 year old laptop and I like it. Or I did at least untill I found out that the reason my bluetooth isn't working, is that there's no windows 10 drivers for it!
I'm liking Windows 8.1 on my workstation however and been running without issues for more than 2 years
                Kind Regards,

From what I read, I won't have to pay after the first year. But we'll see

You know how it is, for example they said win 10 is the last os update ever. What does this mean? like Autodesk said, after 2017 no more perpetual license. One has to think - they gotta make their money some how.....

I absolutely LOVE the customizable Start menu (AFTER customizing, I mean). But other than that... not sure I see anything all that great compared to Win7.

Wondering how this is different from your usual desktop icon structure? I heard it supports multiple desktops - which is cool...

It's quite different in that you can keep it organized by snapping the icons into titled sections, you can have different-sized icons for emphasis, plus you just press the Windows key and it's right there and goes away as soon as you click on something.

Upgraded a while back now and it's been great. Only issues I had were driver related, and they're all fixed now. Everything works (autocad, microstation, 3ds max, vray, sketchup, adobe CC suite) without problem.

Is it worth upgrading? Yes, given that it's free and support for win 7 will eventually end. Will you notice a difference? Not a huge one, but I find it aesthetically nicer, and boot times are pretty quick too.
