  • Hmmm...getting boring now

Hi - can anyone advise me on this? I have a scene with a plane, onto which is mapped an image of a house. The house has an alpha channel, so it will appear as a house shape, not a 'box'. Vray doen't seem to be able to make the alpha part transparent. It just goes kinda grey. Surely this is pretty basic stuff?

I had it as a std mat to start with - no joy. So, I changed it to a Vray mat...no joy. I tried the various tricks posted here (putting the image into the Refract channel, alpha as grey, invert, etc etc) but no difference.

Is there a way to do this or shall I stop wasting my time?

    thnx all!

well i think there are two ways

first alphas in vray mat allways are rendered as refractions. so make sure, your vraymat irQ is set to 1 like air. if not you get refractions. also take care, not to use glossys in such a material. this also would affect the (invisible parts)

secound, the new vray 1.5 will have a very fast perfect working opacity slot. it realy rocks, and does the job much better than current 1.09

you want the house on a plane just as a background image?
you can use standard material if your more comfortable with it. same method as you would usually do it
