  • Vray Edges for real Hard Edges from non-coplanar faces

I'm wondering if there is an approach to get Vray-Edges or something else to render out edges from real hard edges. With real hard edges i mean from faces who are not coplanar to each other, Ignoring all Edges on coplanar faces/polygons.
Reason if i get 3D Models from clients or do some slicing on a polygon to extrude areas within, Vray-edge texture still renders the connecting Edges even if the faces are coplanar to each other.

Is there a way to perfom this result with maps or materials, without changing the object and removing those edges? The only way i found so far is converting a poly-object into a edit-mesh and selecting all Edges and perform "auto-edge" on all edges. Which in most cases will create usable results, but not everytime. And on some models i prefer not to transform them into mesh. So like with procedural results i get from Railclone etc.

Glad to hear you find a way to render to render the effect you are looking for.
