So far there is no workable tool/method that will transfer complete scene from Maya to Max and vice versa.
However we are working on a new feature called VRayScene Manager which will allow loading complete .vrscene files (including materials, lights, geometry etc) exported from any 3D platform that supports V-Ray.
This is already done in WIP builds of V-Ray for Maya and yet to be ported to 3DSMax as well.

      That's very useful.

Any chance that this tool will be scriptable and can offer the possibility to manipulate a .vrscene outside of any DCC application (such as Maya or Max)?
      Best Regards,
      Fredrik

I wrote a tool at work to that.
I used abc for model and custom xml for material.
Obviously you can not transfer procedural map or utility map, but it was not that difficult to serialize VRay material and bitmap as xml.
