  • Mapping tile on a circular ring!!!

    this question is for all mapping guru's out there,
    so I am looking for a way to map some floor tiles around a huge flat circular ring
    any ideas would very helpful
    (please see image attached for what I am trying to achieve)

    Long way:
    UNWRAP the floor and map it that way

    The short quick easy way:
    Draw a spline following the inside or outside or middle of that path (with a bunch of segments). Sweep your spline (box) the size of the path. Enable mapping in the sweep and thats it, The actual map can be just a normal flat map jpg or max tiles or bercontiles whatever. It will follow the path of the spline (if there's enough segments in the spline)

    Another long way, but that will look good, use railclone

          you can also use uvw unwrap, but without actually unwrapping.. just draw a spline around the inner edge of your floor with snap, and use it to do "spline mapping" in the unwrap modifier.

            Whilst all the above solutions will work, a sweep modifier will generate mapping coordinates that follow the path.
