  • Brute Force rendering faster than Light Cache

We have been rendering in ADV lately since we are still waiting for Vray RT to be fixed. We were surprised to find that our exterior shots where rendering faster with "Brute Force + Brute force" vs "Brute Force + Light cache". Not much faster, but still faster, has anyone else noticed this?

It is possible; if there are lots of geometry details, V-Ray might end up not using the light cache at all and it would just slow things down.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Well it's very impressive. Would of never thought it would have been as fast.

Have you guys tested with detailed interiors ? I mean, with lots of objects, fine details ...
I guess I'll have to run several tests here when / if I ever get some free time

Did a test on a typical exterior view, where BF+BF was about 25% slower than BF+LC.... but I will certainly try it on a few more projects and see where it is worth it. Thanks for the tip.

Seems faster in my cases, not by much maybe 10-20sec on a 8min render. But I will say it is definitely not faster on interiors.

Ok, thanks for the feedback. Since we work at 99% on detailed shops interiors (many little details and objects, many lights, reflections everywhere ...), I doubt using BF would be faster. From my first tests, before v3.3 though, the best quality/speed approach for us seems to be IM (with detail enhancement) + LC. I'll make more tests with v3.3 and the new workflow.

                  Cheers.

as long as our farm is able to render all farmes over night rendertime isnt an issue...
clean non flickering frames is what we need...

if we get in time trouble we would do a closer look to optimize...
