  • shadow cast for GI

    Hi,

Does anybody knows if it´s possible to make an object not to cast shadows for GI light, but cast shadows for every light left?

    Hi,

Switch off "Visible to Reflection/Refraction" in the object properties panel.
I dunno if it's a bug but it does it.

    Hope it helps!

    Regards,

    Jorge.

Well, maybe i'm wrong but i think you're talking about something like this:

Both balls are in the ground but the left one has unchecked "visible to reflection/refraction" option and it doesn't cast GI shadows...

        Anyway here's the scene file:

        http://www.mirsev.com/stuff/NO_GI_Shadow.max (MAX 5.1)

But perhaps you're talking about something else

        Regards,

        Jorge.

          Yeah, it works!

The first time I answered to you, I tried that on the scene I'm working on, and it didn't work. Now I tried it on a hole new scene and it does work.

          Thanks man!

              is there a way

to have an obect, that isnt casting any gi shadows, but still is visable to reflections?

thats what I want [seems like a good post to ask in]

                  No GI

To do that, switch off GENERATE GI & RECEIVE GI from objects properties in the system slot of Vray, that´s i think

I think gitano is right because the dark zone under your sphere is not a casted shadow but an area where light bounces less, thus creating dark.
So "cast shadow" or not isn't the point.
