Rendering on two computers

How many Render node licenses you have (V-Ray Render Node 3.0 )?
One Render node license allows one machine to be used for rendering. In order to render on both machines simultaneously (DR for an example) 2 render node licenses are required.

It says render node 3.0 licenses: 1. But I thought one can render on two computers when buy vray. So what can I do now?

You will need two render node licenses in order to be able to use both machines at same time for rendering. I would suggest you to contact our sales team at sales@chaosgroup.com so they will provide more details and options.

One more question. When render on both computers I will want to shut down computer which is server, but dongle is on client. Can I do that? So only client will render? Or I have to start render from the second computer. Thanks.

Yes, but you can do that via backburner. So you submit a scene to the backburner manager and it will forwart it to your second computer. So you dont need to start it by hand on your second computer.
You can also submit a Distributed rendering with your worksation included using the "Save servers in scene" option.
So both computers render until you shut your worksation down (the other will continue). But the VFB will be on the second computer though.

Stopping the "Server" used to submit the DR job will terminate the render process on both machines. You can do the opposite setup, start the DR job from the Client and turn off the Server (DR slave in this setup) when you want. This way the Client machine will complete the render itself.

Ok. But now I dont know, how I can do that when I have only trial max installed on second computers. How I can start DR job on this second computer?

And second thing - with DR there is an option to add or remove machines from the rendering proces on the fly. Can I add or remove machines with backburner too?

With backburner. Backburner just starts rendering even on trail versions of max. If the scene uses DR it will be a Distributed rendering. And you can tell vray to use your worksation as second DR computer.

Yes. But as I wrote if you use bb to start a Distributed rendering on a specified computer the VFB and the progress window will be on that second computer. So you'll need to do it there.

I use remote desktop, its great. So If I understand that correctly, I look to my second machine and start backburner from here. Load a scene and render. When this scene uses DR, it will again with backburner. When I shut down my main (but this time second computer), render will continue on this computer. When render is in progress, I can add or remove machines on the fly as I normally would. Is that correct?

Yup, as long as the secound computer has access to the dongle and the backburner manager (both can be on that computer). This is how it will work.
