  • Proxy objects from 2.5 to 3.3

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I just upgraded from 2.5 to 3.3 and I noticed a viewport performance issue when having Vray proxy objects created from 2.5 in my 3.3 scene. I did a test to make sure. I merged in 6 proxy plant objects (created in 2.5) from my library into a fresh viewport. I then navigated the viewport, pan, rotate...etc. I noticed the viewport would freeze just for a split second and move, freeze...move...etc. I'm not clear why Vray 3.3 would have anything to do with viewport performance. I then re-created new proxy objects from the original models in Vray 3.3. Merged the same proxy models into a fresh scene and then......TADA....the viewport fps was smooth...no issues. I remember having a similar issue when I made the jump from Vray 1 to 2. Like many users, we have an extensive plant library consisting of hundreds of models. I can't imagine going through the daunting task of re-creating all those proxy object again in 3.3.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks......Scott

The problem is the display mode of the proxy, preview from file (edges) , it slows down viewport performance significantly, this mode wasnt working in 2.4 for some unknown reason to me. So try to pick the preview from file (faces) mode and see if that helps.
