  • OSL or other: surface speed & direction

    Is there a way to get an objects surface speed and direction as a texture? I thought OSL might be able to do it.
    I can do this in comp with vectors and normal passes but would like to achieve it on a shader level.

    Hm, there's a way to do it in Maya, but not in Max, I think. I can easily add outputs to the VRaySamplerInfo texture for that (i.e. a Velocity output and a speed output). Would that work for you?

      ah I was looking for a speed or velocity in the samplerInfo texture, it was really just a thought so I don't need it right away thanks Vlado. Might be useful one day.
