    https://davewortley.wordpress.com/20.../power-masker/

Written for Morne, this script allows you to create MME masks for every material in your scene and every layer in your scene in two clicks.

Give it a try and let me know if it works for you!

so I understand it's similar to this:
      http://lastjedioutpost.ru/?l=en&p=effectschannelex

but as a script, so we wouldn't need to install it on the renderfarm, right?
      thanks a lot!

Correct, no Renderfarm installation required. I can't remember who I need to thank for showing me the maxplus trick, but it's a good one!

It's the dotnet framework which adds the ability to change things that maxscript can't.

              From my script
              GlobalInterface = (dotNetClass "Autodesk.Max.GlobalInterface")

It's full SDK access in mxs, no biggie...
                    Well done Dave, thanks!

Meh.... it's not really full SDK... sometimes a few backdoor tricks with this dll, but doesn't allow you to do much new.

                        hi Dave,
I am testing your script and it's really useful, thanks a lot!

A couple of extra features would be nice though:
                        - Opening the selected material(s) in the material editor (sometimes they are not correctly named and you don't know what material it is).
                        - Highlighting the objects/polygons that have the selected material.
                        - Creating MME only for the selected Mtls - this implies being able to select more than one
                        - Maybe formatting in bold or italic the materials that do/don't have a MME?

Are there any limitations in its use? I mean, it works with standard vrayMtls, and vray2sidedMtls, is there any vray shader not compatible with it? (fast sss2, vrayblend, skin, etc..)

                        cheers!

I have been waiting for something like this since I started using V-ray with Max after coming from Maya and using Deex's excellent scripts

I've made threads about it but the response has been pretty muted at best, so well done Dave!!!

One thing I wonder; in Maya, materialID render element is nice and smoothly anti-aliased.
In Max, it comes out jagged:

                          Maya

                          Max

I notice the MME render elements in Max are smooth, but they're more cumbersome compared to just every mask on a single layer (a la materialID element)
