  • Seeking bitmap / changing material strategy

    Hi all,

We have numerous interior scenes that have TVs in them. We always use the same series of images for the TV screens, with only one exception (which is unique for every project).

For the series of images that stays the same on every project, we use an IFL (Image File List). It has ten images. We don't actually animate any objects, but use 10 frames so that we can easily render the frames with the correct image in the TVs for each frame. All TVs get this same material (all TVs show the same image simultaneously).

The last required TV content images are always unique to the specific project...and needs to be unique to each TV. If we have 5 TVs in a scene, we'll have 5 unique images. If there are 25 TVs, we'll have 25 unique images (typically using Material IDs to assign within a single Multi/Sub Material).

Is there a way to quickly conveniently go back/forth between the standard IFL material used for every project and the other batch of project-specific images?

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Tim

2 Sets of tv's on a layer, make tv's on the layer you want renderable, and the other not and visa versa?
    Kind Regards,

The various token controls in filenames of the vray hdri loader could be useful - https://vimeo.com/100399778
