  • backround image renders white?

I'm completely stumped. Been trouble shooting this for an hour.
I'm messing around with an interior scene with a large window, Vray plane light in the window, and dome light with an HDRI for lighting
I placed an image, (several different images actually), in the environment background. And every time I render the window is completely white.
Yes, use map is checked in the environment background with an image loaded. and use environment background is checked in background.
    I've tried-
    Turning off the dome light
delete the vray plane light in the window
As I mentioned, different images in the environment background.
I enabled, disabled vray GI environment. Tried different images in there on and off
Thought maybe it might be something to do with the reflectivity of the window glass material so I selected and hid the window. Still white.
I hid everything in the camera view and rendered and got a completely white render??
The background image shows up fine in the viewport.
    What am I missing?
    Thank You

    Camera clipping on?

edit: just read your post a little bit more thoroughly. Is Invisible checked in your domelight? Otherwise it overrides your environment map slot (I think, just tested this)

Tried checked both ways. Same result. Even deleted the dome light AND the vray plane light. Same result. Still haven't figured it out.
When I first started this interior I had a different background image and everything was fine.
After switching images everything was white, I tried several different images and no change.
I even switched back to the original image and it's still renders white.

This is ridiculous. I finally got it to render the background with everything else hidden. Which it wouldn't do before.
So I unhid everything and the window renders white again.
I turned off the vray plane light in the window again. And the window is still white. deleted the vray plane light and still white. Now when I hide the window I get the background to render in the opening.(which it wouldn't do before),
So changed to a new glass material and it's back to white.
So I think I've eliminated the dome light being a possibility, the vray plane light, and the glass material in the window. I don't know what else to check.
I even tried hiding the window and adding a new plane in the opening with the glass material assigned to the plane and it's white.

Maybe post a stripped down scene, I could check for you.

I just got the same issue 3 weeks ago for an interior...i changed the glass material and the problem was gone but i think it was not only related to the glass material

It would be indeed best to attach stripped down version of the scene, otherwise we could only guess what's going on.

So I've opened the file and being under the presumption that you've tried all the things I stated in the first post; I reset settings, merged scene, recreated materials/geometry,...nothing helped indeed. Then I double checked your domelight (that doesn't have a texture btw just a regular white, 1.0 multiplier, dome light) and turns out invisible is still not checked. Checking invisible, and voila, your BG appears.

                      Thank You Vizioen.
Here's the weird part though, I had a dome light in there with an HDRI all set up. I checked invisible, unchecked, finally I just deleted the light and still had white background.
So, as it turns out, I don't even know where the dome light you found came from. The one I had was on the outside. The one you found isn't even visible in the scene. I found it by going into the selections and selecting Vray light9. No idea where that came from.
Your help is very much appreciated! Glad that's behind me.
