could it just be that the surface normals need flipping?

i did that and even use double sided shaders and render set but still....i think it was exported poorly by a third party software..

anyone know any good object converters from lwo to 3ds?

You can do it in formZ.
It opens" Lwo." and it can export to "3ds".
It works fine for the model only (not the textures).

just to add... .3ds file format has a face limit per object of around 32,000 or something close to that, so parts are probably missing because they had too many polygons.

you might want to try importing them as something other than .3ds

.obj is a good one for polygon models. a free import filter for max is available from www.habware.at

rhino is great for import/export. it works with just about any format.

Use polytrans. The best converting app ever!!!!
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

thanks guys,,,,it turned out that they exported the model to 3ds using a trial use software that deletes every 5th polygon,,,,thanks again.

heheh the first thing that i though was that they used a dodgy exporter that remove the polys. But i decided to stay quiet.......but damn thats CRAP.

hahaha who does that and doesnt notice.....LOL
