  • Are you making a difference between Distr. rendering and....

    Hello chaos

I work in a production and postproduction company for film and commercials and we are about to integrate a third party renderer in our systems.

I have one question. "Distributed" rendering is not yet supported for max 6, but i was wondering if this term is exactly the same as simple frame based network rendering.

I always assumed that DR in vray ment bucketrendering over network only, not single frame network rendering.

    thx for your answers!

we don't need bucketrendering over network, just single frame

DR is distributed bucket rendering, meant for single frame rendering. For animation rendering normal backburner netrendering will be faster as it requires a lot less network activity compared to DR.

so i can install vray on a renderslave also and then just render it from my workstation with backburner? my image sequence will be rendered out with vray?

all we need to render is image sequences with vray and backburner without bucketrendering, just single frame per pc.

if that is the case then vlado can expect some commands

You can install vray on an unlimited number of renderslaves and render frames with backburner just like with scanline. Also irradiance maps, photon maps, lightmaps etc. can be stored and shared during network rendering to greatly reduce render times.
