  • VRayEdgesTex problem

i'm having an issue where I'm trying to create rounded corners on a piece of furniture. So I've added VRayEdgesTex to my bump map for the material and I've added a ProOptimizer modifier to the individual parts that I want to be rounded. The issue is that *everything* has rounded edges now, not just the geometry with the ProOptimizer modifier. How can this be? How do I correct that? I suppose I could create a second material, but I'm wondering why everything is affected?

I'm not sure I understand your question because why would the prooptimizer be the one to dictate which object gets the vrayedgestex. The vrayedgestex will affect all objects that have that material applied, or am I wrong?

When I was learning how to use EdgesTex, I could not get it to work no matter what I tried. Then someone told me that you have to use ProOptimizer in order for it to work which did then start working for me. There's a thread around here somewhere, but it was awhile ago... Maybe it was because the model at the time was coming in as something other than Editable Polys as I think about it. So then it sounds like I just need to make a different material for those parts I need to chamfer. Interesting.

You would indeed have to make another material. There's no need for the prooptimizer to make it work IF you have nice and clean geometry.
