  • Improve Antialiasing

    Hi,
I'm doing some car close ups and having issues with the aliasing, I'm currently using -

    Adaptive
    min rate 8
    divide shading sudivs - on
    Rendder mask - none
    image filter - on
    Area -1.5

I upped the rate to 24 but this didn't help much.

Thanks in advance for any advice, appreciated.

You can try using a different AA filter - like VRayLanczos or Soften.

Enabling "clamp output" (to around 3.0 to 6.0) and "subpixel mapping" may also help.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

after extensive test that me and other guys on forum did i can tell with this kind of highlight "Soften" is the best option available.

I wish we would see an improved version of soften by chaos group to improve its speed it will be very helpful indeed.

VRayLanczos is also very good and clean just like vlado said.

Do you have any comparison images? No Filter / Soften / VRayLanczos ?
I woul dlike to see the difference. I could make a test myself but my hope is that you have some images of your test still in the history

In my experience "Quadratic" or "Cubic" works really well, too. Quadratic in most cases, Cubic only when you have large images where the softening effect diminishes.

you can see my test here http://mohseni.info/aa-filter-comparison/

but in this test the sharpness/softness , render time was the target. so you can not see the highlight behavior. If you have time we all appreciate any further test. but if you have not the time I maybe do another test with targeting highlight behavior in weekend.
