          Well

first, to switch it to the right direction, i know what i wouldnt want to be in vray .

          sloooooowlyness.

this is the biggest advantage of Vray. While other renderers in terms of interface and sophisticated materials sometimes seem to be a bit more advanced, it seems to me, that vray is much much faster as others. so what ever happens this should stay.
All other things can be done in Vray as well as in other renderers.

but of course this question was ment seriously.

so what would i like more ? (hmm this also could be posted in the wishlist)

          - faster sss

          - sophisticated materials

          - at last finished distributed singleframe network rendering (vlado works on this)

          - vray frbuffer improvements , Geddart, EGZ and me worked on this and well, maybe later some of these ideas will find their way
          http://www.tom-schuelke.com/vr-fbi.pdf

          - some further improvements of global switches, and more options in Materials, still better improved fake highlights, a selfilu slot in the vray mat, many many little things.

but at last this will come soon or later, and the rest, vray is best.

          Tom

vray doesn't YET have the flashy bling bling that some other renderers might have. but it has them all beat in horsepower...[/i]

                  nukleon

I have vray advanced. I am intersred in why are there a lot of expensive benchmarks and vray seems to me VERY easy. I am using finalrender in all my work because its the best cos I can tweak evereything I want and vray isnt stable so thats why

I dont think we should get into who is best .... we all make our own choices into which renderer we put our time into ... i personally use vray, i also have used Finalrender and also Brasil, not to mention Lightscape and Virtualight.... oh and InSight, but have settled with Vray for many reasons... so you can pick holes in all these renders, but what is the point.

i would like to have a more focused development on vray.

seeing that the caustic bug was unnoticed an many others pop up, now that the early "1.5 beta" was released, i think we will see MANY 1.4.x.x versions before we see a stable and finished v1.5.

same game as with 1.1 if you ask me.

i just finished a new project with 1.45.70, and didn't have a single problem, even with new features, including the amazing new lightmap and render passes.
i found some bugs i will report later, like putting a gradient into the vray opacity slot crashes max, but this is non-important stuff.
