  • VRayLightMtl in VRayBlendMtl and direct illumination option

When will direct illumination option work for VRayLightMtl (when inside complex materials) ? It could be usefull because the GI generated by VRayLightMtl is very noisy.

    Hi,

The Direct illumination option crates a mesh light from the source object, which becomes a problem when the object is divided on two or more materials using a mask. But if we find some way to do this, an options will be added.

Thanks for the reply I thought it was an easier thing to do..... because in the vray 2 help it had said "The direct illumination options currently only work properly if the VRayLightMtl material is the only material applied on the object. They will not work if the material is part of a complex material like a Multi/sub-object material or a VRayBlendMtl material. This restriction will probably be removed in a future release."

So I thought it would be implemented in vray 3.0 but maybe it will be in vray 4.0 ? yes ?

So, in a multisubobject it doesn't work. Darn it, I never realised this. So when enabled and it's part of a multisuboject, does it generate problems or it just doesn't do Direct Illumination?

It doesn't generate Direct Illumination, I'm not sure if it causes any issues. If it does please send us an example scene so we could investigate further.
