  • Changing Vray Material default parameters

Hi, I always done a lot of same thing in a vray default material. Like removing fresnel, switching to ggx . Is there the possibility to create my own default material and have it load in the material editor as default?
In 90 % of my material i've got composite in the same slot or curve...It will be easy for me to edit it once and have it ready all the time.

    Thanks.

Hm, maybe you can edit the medit.mat material library that is normally found in "%localappdata%\Autodesk\3dsMax\2016 - 64bit\ENU\en-US\defaults\MAX" - this is the file that is used to populate the slots of the material editor when you open it. You can adjust the settings as you want.

There is no way to change the defaults when you create a new VRayMtl material though - will make a note to look into that. We did some work to implement presets for the VRayMtl material, maybe one of them can be used as default.

    Best regards,

Hi Vlado, thanks for the quick reply.
I try to do it but with no result. An other think that i try to do is to manually set all the material editor slot like i want and save a new maxstart file. But when i reset they come back to their initial state. Any idea of how to prevent the resetting?

      Thanks
      Alessandro

Being able to save/load settings/defaults on anything VRay object/properties related (or max related for that matter, but that is not your problem) would be really cool.
            Software:
            Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
            3ds Max 2016 SP4
            V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

            Hardware:
            Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)
            64GB RAM
