We don't have plans to implement bidirectional path tracing for the moment.

We might get back to the bidirectional tracer at some point, but it's not a very high priority.

You can take a look at a talk at Siggraph 2015 by someone at Weta digital where he explained how they tried all the modern raytracing techniques for their Manuka renderer before realizing that regular path tracing is the best way to go.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Vlado, is this the course you are referring to: http://s2015.siggraph.org/attendees/...movie-industry
Do you or anyone know where a recording and/or course notes is available?

          Thanks!

Edit: found a link https://sites.google.com/site/pathtracingrevolution/ but only has part of the course notes.
