  • Character Animation With Hdri Lighting

I am working on a new project, this one has a moving camera and a moving character in it. The only lighting in the scene is provided by Hdri images in the environment and reflection slots. The scene is outdoors with about 125,000 polygons.

Since I have a moving character, I understand I must create a IR soulution with each frame. Might I be better off using Direct Computation on the first bounce instead?

Also should I blur the Hdri in the enviroment slot? I thought I heard doing so would give a better results?

    Any advise please?

if it doesnt depend on to small gi details you could also use only lightmap with high settings an much blurr.

    this method would be fast.

you also could use lightmap for secoundary bounce, and quasim.

Geddart did this for a charachter he did for school. but this was easier, as there were less polygons, and no hdri (which gives much more splochier results, so higher settings are nessesair.).

i would try l-map in secoundary, and i-map in first bounces, with high settings.
