Sorry guys, I can't find anything about rendering FumeFX with Vray.

My renders are just turning out to be black.
    Lights are assigned, etc.
I also couldn't find any step by step guide how to use the Vray Grid Container.
How to export from FumeFX the field3d file to load into the Vray Grid container.

Thx for any little help !

    Hello,

Do you render while you're still simulating? This could be the problem - as we don't support rendering during simulation with FumeFX.

There is nothing specific about rendering FumeFX sims with VRay - it should work out of the box. Though if you use the VRayVolumeGrid to import the caches rendering will be a lot faster.

For the FumeFX f3d files to be read by the VRayVolumeGrid you need to set the f3d files to use gzip compression - this can be done in the FumeFX preferences.
After your cache is simulated with gzip compression you just locate your files in the Input section of the VRayVolumeGrid and you will be prompted with a dialog if you'd like to use a preset for FumeFX.

You can find more information about the VolumeGrid here -

      - the Sim is done, one light added, but my render stays black.
      - VrayVolumeGrid:
Sure, that's what I want to use.

I changed the settings in Fume to gzip.
But where is the file be stored ?
      Or how to export ?

When using the VolumeGrid I should be able to load the gzip file.
But I dont' know how to create that file ?
Fume doesn't seem to generate it automatically ?
Or is there any export option I miss ?

In the General tab of FumeFX there is a submenu called Paths - there you can set where to export the cache files. You need to set the files to be exported as f3d.
Then after you simulate the caches are written at the designated location and you load these files into VRayVolumeGrid.

As for the black renders - what version of VRay are you using? Can you provide us with a scene?
