  • render time on vray fur

    Hi,

I have seen some great renders here made with vray fur. I was wondering if there is a limit to the size of the base object.

I would like to use fur to make rugs, but when i apply vray fur to a rug of 1500 x 2500 mm and hit render the pc seems to freeze while the processor is very busy. How long should one have to wait for a simple thing like a plane of this size to render with vray fur, or is there some setting i have missed ?

    Best regards,

    Erik

Don't apply the fur to objects with very large faces. VRay generates the fur on a per-face basis, and if needs to generate too many strands on a single face, things get nasty. A solution would be to increase the polygons of the rug. In future versions, VRay might tesselate very large polygons itself...

    Best regards,
