  • Compare GI renderers

    Hello!

I wrote the big table, witch compare all of the features all of 4 best-know GI renderers for 3ds max.
The compare table is available on:

Good work but im afraid its not really upto date now as there is a newer version of vray out which has features that you havent listed.

Yes you are missing a few things, in materials there is now a toon output and a global material in V-Ray.

And you are missing the most important NEW feature Lightmaps as the new GI Method

You're missing a few things, if you're counting QMC control for Final|Render, then count it for Vray as well. Also, the Luma Server in Brazil is direct computation, their final gather method is the mixture fo photon mapping and the 'Luma Server's' direct computation. You're also leaving out Vray's new lightmaps. Brazil r/s doesn't support motion blur, it has a rollout for it but it doesn't work.

          It's a good comparison though.

If the features are being compared for official released versions, then the features of 1.4x might be mentioned in a footnote or as additional information, but not in an official feature set. However, if beta features are being sited for other renderers, then the 1.4x features should also be listed.

even without the new features, VRAY seems to be the best option out there..

The chart clearly says 1.09.03n on the top, but maybe a footnote listing the new stuff in 1.45.70 is a good idea too

Btw, the producer should be Chaos Software, not vrayrender. And for finalRender it's Cebas GmbH, not finalrender

All renderer have great deal of version. New version containing new features, analogous to Vray Fur in new version V-ray renderer. Its very hard for the comparison.

A link to each renderer's official page / a demo download page is in original table good - http://sniffer.animace.com/Pixel/compare.htm - within translation to Maxarea.com hyperlink was cut short:
http://www.splutterfish.com to splutterfish (its OK), http://www.finalrender.com to finalrender (Cebas is right)
                    Its fault, We repair it!

When you compare make sure the list is correct.

There are plenty of errors in that list (and msssing features).

The list should really be updated for 1.45.70 to give a correct comparison, but if not you should set Enhanced Frame Buffer to No for VRay since the VRay Frame Buffer isn't present in the 1.09.03n build.

As soon as I'll keep at one's disposal new version, tablet update, of course.

check the last table "PLUGIN SUPPORT"

DarkTree shaders (SimbiontMAX) - it worx very well with VRAY, i've been using it for almost a year now. So basicly its a "YES"
