VFB - limiting to 16bit color

is it possible to make VRay output not 32 but only 16 bit color to frame buffer? I'm looking for ways to limit vrimg file sizes (20-30 render elements).

For .vrimg files, no - only for multi-channel OpenEXR files (there's an option for this in the Browse dialog for the raw image output file selection).
