you can but it will look bad .... the general rule i stick to is if you have a map of 640/480 then you can render out at 1280/960..... so double up basically.

thank you
so what will be the size i need for the irradiance map to be in order to render a 20161740 and also what size of irradiance for an image size of 28362126.
and do i need to fit them in some wey or will they auto fit together in the final render?

...i send all my renderings to my FARM, renderings are 2048X standart. For exterior it takes about 30-60 minutes with 3 IRMAP passes as it is. (Prescott 2.8Ghz) So why should i save, wait, load, resubmit my rendering job just to save some minutes?

Excuse me ezrithm
About what u said
But 1.09.03 doesn' t support distributed GI on the net-render as I know (maybe I'm wrong but I'm near to be sure) U have to calc an irrad map on one pc and then give the vrmap to all the pc on the net and active the net render with dr and render at double resolution respect the previous gi calculation!!
If u have another technique please explain to me I'm curious
And how could u get your so low rendering times ? LOw parameters?
Mine exteriors at 2048 tooks always 24hours for a 2048x1536pixel resolution

well, i didnt say i use distributed rendering for 1 frame.
I submit an "animation" of 5-10 frames (differnet angles) to the farm (20PCs) only 10 ofcourse pick up the JOB and in 30-60 minutes return ALL together different angles for me to choose from.
So each PC calculates its own IRMAP for stills... but when it comes to animation, i submit IRMAP 320X280 with global reflections "OFF" , per 20 frames to ONLY 1 PC as a critical JOB. I takes about 12-24 hours for a 5000 frame animatrion.
Then i throw the same job taking the IRMAP from the networked location and render 720X576 with all stuff switched "ON" - results are quite goodand each frame takes about 5-6 minutes!!!
HERE are EXAMPLES:
