  • Vray DR and Thinking Particles

    Hi!
I'm trying to render a still image from a scene that has a TP system in it through distributed rendering. The problem is that nodes don't start to render. In V-ray messages it says that the scene was transferred and that the node is starting the current render, but then it just doesn’t show up. I tried to render only on the node and it reads TP just fine and renders out, also rendering an animation through backburner is ok, all the machines do their work, the problem is only when I try to render it with DR. And all the assets are on network so it’s not that kind of a problem.

Do you have installed same V-Ray and TP version on all machines? Do you get this issue with a simple scene with a simple particle simulation? Also check the V-Ray log file, from the workstation and one of the problematic render nodes, for any errors?

yes, I have the same versions of all plugins. Interesting thing is that it dosent work only while trying distributed rendering. V-ray messages say that the node loaded the scene and it is starting the render. No errors. The node just sits idle after that, no processor load whatosoever. And it works fine on scenes without TP in it and it seperatly renders scene just fine even with TP.

        Thank you for this information.
The same issue was reproduced here and we are looking into it right now. Will keep you posted!

Did you try it with a cached TP system?

Yes, of course, otherwise it would be extremly slow in best case scenario.

We made some changes to the code for the next release and thinking particles should work fine in DR mode.
