So far, it's been a dream for me. I no longer crash 4-5 times a day. Heck, I haven't crashed in a couple weeks. There are a few wonky things, but I have been able to work around them.

Are you finding any viewport speed difference between 2017 and 2016?
      Kind Regards,

You're saying you're not experiencing any problematic pan & zoom behavior?

No problem with pan/zoom. The VP seems the same as previous versions. Now, high quality crases MAX every time, so I have to stay in Standard mode.

I'm in the process of dusting off cobwebs after a 5 year hiatus in the Viz world, and trying to evaluate whether to setup shop in Max 2017 or Max 2016. I've been playing with MAX 2017 for the past few days and I can confirm the laginess of the viewports (even in wireframe), periodic crashes, malfunctioning select by material feature and a host of other things, like the layer manager doesn't show half the items you just drew. I'm considering setting up shop in 2016 for now, unless the community or a new service pack can convince me otherwise.

Now that SP2 is out, maybe things will be better for those that were having issues...

I honestly don't understand why anyone would install max as soon as it's out.
Waiting at least for one SP is a must.

I think most did. The first service pack broke more than it fixed.

I found it was crashing left right and centre Just installed SP2 and at least the multiple instances of max now works again as that was a nightmare to work with. So far only had one crash today due to pflow so it is looking ok so far.

Every year we go through the same routine with AD, they come out with a bright and shiny new version of Max and we all secretly hope it's not a bad as the last version. The day they forced us onto subscription was the day Max was doomed and I honestly think AD intends on eventually forcing us into Maya.

I thought the same thing but I was told that Maya is just as bad.

I think that Maya is not well suited for Archvis yet. Can someone prove me wrong?
