  • VRay stochastic car paint

Hey guys, I'm trying to create a metallic silver car paint such as this:

I've had limited success using various materials from the vraymtl, car paint material and stochastic flakes material - but nothing entirely convincing. I know a fair few of you do automotive renders so it would be nice if you could point me in the right direction.

One thing I found made a big difference for metallic cars was actually adding some glow in the V-ray lens effects (or however you wish), anecdotally. On your example it's quite prominent around the petrol flap and under the door handle.

I've never really been to get satisfactory results when it comes to the clearcoat though, so I'd be interested in any tips also

If you know a bit of spanish, you can follow this tutorial, very well explained and it's free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJM6oE2DiVc

I don't know much spanish, but that looks very helpful. Thanks.
