  • Multichannel exr to single channels

is it possible to convert the single exr with all channels into all the single channels without say going into photoshop and saving them one by one?

the vrimg to exr tool will do it.

someone else can explain it better though i believe you need to tell it every channel you want though. rather than just an extract all.

other option is also just to open it in vrayframe buffer. I would just do it with this if its only a few stills.

I've just found to easier to save out each element as its own exr, so i can avoid this.

Hi, thanks for your help, the vrimg to exr tool only converts vrimg to exr i want it the other way around also the vray frame buffer only shows the beauty pass when its open but i found out its better to open it in photoshop and there is an export exr to layers option which is exactly what i need

how did you save you exr?

I'd have to do some tests, but it should work if you saved vray raw as an exr.

if you have saved through standard max, then maybe its different.

i saved them using the vfb, so your saying it should load all channels? these ones however were rendered on a render farm and then i downloaded them but its the same in principle

That is interesting the VFB seems to load render elements from .vrimg files but not .exr . I'll make a note about that.
