black parts on objects...

  • black parts on objects...

    I am rendering somthing with vRay and in one object the color is black!
    (the original texture of that object is grey...)

    with regular render the color is OK!

    why is that???

        it could be the normals of the object.. try switching on 2 sided in the max rendering options.

          the wall above the first floor of the staris is black!
          this is not a raytrace map... I evan tried to switch the texture map of it...

              Looks like flipped normals to me. If it is a seperate object though, check if the generate and receive GI is not set to zero.

                How can it be fliped normals???
                with a regular render its working fine - the texture is good - the normals are fine!

                  You could have coplanar surfaces. If that is the case, then one surface gets GI and the other one doesn't. The renderer doesn't always pick the correct surface to render.

                    yes, it can. even if it looks ok in normal scanline, vray sometimes doesnt show double sided. This happens a lot with imported data from Autocad for example.
                    And this sometimes really is a pain, but in this case is easy to solve I think, just select all the wrong faces and flip them. see if it works.
