Hey guys,
I'm trying to render using ec2 nodes. I'm using windows 2012 as my license server (internal), and I've pretty much butchered everything.
What i've tried:
--
Port forwarding
Our router is managed. Everytime i contact the company that mangers it they say 'all ports are open by default', 'we are unable to provider port forwarding, but you shouldn't need it'.
So i'm not able to port forward [externalIP]:30304 to [InternalIP]:30304.
VPN
I've been told if i use a VPN, port forwarding wont be needed. Currently i have a VPN running that i'm connecting to via the windows 2012 server. Connecting and running services like 'whatsmyip', reveal that its working, but port 30304 is reported as CLOSED.
netsh (internal port forward)
I've followed various guides of setting up a portproxy and internally port forwarding.
WIBU key drivers.
Are all updated
Troubleshooting:
--
Windows firewall is down.
Machines on my local server can access the license server just fine.
vrlserver is listening on 0.0.0.0:30304.
online port checking software all report the port as being closed.
I'm able to send render jobs via backburner to a manager on EC2 render nodes, works fine. As soon as vray get involved licences cannot be obtained.
Currently the windows 2012 server is running a static IP.
How i'm currently approaching rendering:
--
Just Max
Internal workstations connect and send 3ds max scene to a backburner manager on EC2. Renders fine.
Max and Vray
Internal workstations connect and send 3ds max scene to a backburner manager on EC2. 3ds max vray settings changed to look at the public IP of the internal windows 2012 server to request a vray licence. Unable to get licence.
Max and Vray, via VPN
Internal workstations connect and send 3ds max scene to a backburner manager on EC2. Internal windows 2012 server connects to VPN. 3ds max vray settings changed to look at the public IP of the VPN to request a vray licence. Unable to get licence.
I have zero idea on what i can try next... Any help?
